Procedure for Online Payment of PLI/RPLI Premium by Three online methods without visiting Post Offices
STEP 1: Updation of Email ID and Mobile Number
Can be done by: (Please keep policy details like policy number, Sum Assured, Premium amount, handy)
- Visiting nearest Post Office
- Calling DoP Call Centre: 1800-266-6868
STEP 2: Generation of Customer ID
Visit PLI Customer Portal: https://pli.indiapost.gov.in
Select "Generate Customer ID" and fill:
- Policy Number
- Sum Assured
- Insured First Name
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Mobile Number
- Email Address
- Submit → Customer ID and activation link sent via email (valid 72 hrs).

STEP 3: Registration
Click email link → Set password (8-32 chars with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, special chars).
Account activates after 24 hrs.
STEP 4: Login & Payment -Method 1
Login with Customer ID/password.
Navigate: Payments > Pay Premium.
Select policy → Choose installments → Confirm Payment.
PAY NOW → Select gateway (SBI/Other Banks/UPI/Cards).
Download receipt post-payment.
Procedure Through POSB Internet Banking
Requirement: POSB account with net banking.
Steps: Method 2
- Login to ebanking.indiapost.gov.in.
- General Services > Service Request > New Request.
- Select "Pay PLI/RPLI Renewal Premium".
- Enter policy number, installments, debit account → Submit.
Procedure Through IPPB App
Requirement: IPPB account.Steps: Method 3
- Install IPPB app → Login with MPIN.
- My Services > Post Office Services > Postal Life Insurance.
- Pay Premium → Enter policy details → Confirm with MPIN.
- Download receipt.
