Extension of CGHS facilities to Gramin Dak Sevaks(GDS) in Department of Posts

Postal Directorate has issued clarification on extension of CGHS facilities to GDS and clarified that no longer to extend CGHS facilities to GDS and dependent of family members in Post Offices vide DOP letter No. 17-31/2016-GDS-ESIC dated 13/03/2025

Subject: Extension of facilities of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) to Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) and dependent family members - reg.

Sir(s),

I am directed to refer to the above mentioned subject and to inform thatin response to demands from the GDS Unions, the Department of Posts had taken up the matter of extending medical facilities under the CGHS to GDS and their dependent family members with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoH&FW). In this regard, the MoH&FW has conveyed that CGHS facilities are no longer being extended to any new groups or organizations due to operational constraints and that the existing resources under CGHS are fully committed and stretched.
