Subject:- Clarification on deduction of membership in case of withdrawal before April -reg.

Madam/Sir,

I am directed to refer to Tamil Nadu Circle's letter no. SR/5-5/2024 dated 21.01.2025 on the subject cited above.

2. In this regard, it has been clarified that after consulting with DoP&T, Directorate vide letter no. 13-14/96-SR (Vol. III) dated 05.01.1998 (copy enclosed) has given clarification as follows

"Service Associations can enroll new member any time. However, fresh declaration from members for deduction of membership under the check off system can be accepted by the DDOS only in the month of April every year."

3. Therefore, it is requested to stop the deduction of membership subscription www.immediately after the withdrawal of membership from the existing Association without waiting for April of next year.

4. Further, if any member withdraws from one Association and joins another in these cases, that member is allowed to join the new Association but fresh declaration for deduction of membership can be accepted by DDOS only in the month of April every year and during this period between withdrawal from existing Association to joining to new Association, no deduction can be made from his salary in favour of any Association.

This letter supersedes all the previous communications in this matter
