Carrier Agreement Between Department of Posts and Amazon

Introduction

The Department of Posts (DoP) has entered into a Carrier Agreement with Amazon to provide transportation and logistics services for cross-border shipping. This agreement aims to facilitate e-commerce exports by enabling Amazon sellers to utilize DoP's international mail products for cross-border e-commerce shipments. It was communicated vide DOP Directorate Letter No.File No. CF-71/32/2023-CF-DOP dated 08/01/2025.

Action Plan

To implement this agreement, the following steps will be taken:

1. Seller Onboarding: Amazon sellers will be able to select India Post as their logistics partner for transportation services.

2. Label Generation: Once India Post is selected, the DNK portal will generate labels for the seller on the Amazon portal.

3. Shipment Processing: Sellers will paste the label on the shipment and present it to any Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra. The article will be inducted by the concerned DNK, and postage will be realized in cash.

4. Customs Compliance: Sellers will be responsible for complying with customs queries on the Amazon portal.

5. Contractual Facility: Once the provision is enabled by CEPT, Amazon sellers will also be able to utilize the contractual facility offered by DoP.

Conclusion

The Carrier Agreement between DoP and Amazon is a significant step towards facilitating e-commerce exports and promoting the use of DoP's international mail products. Circles are requested to widely publicize this information to ensure a smooth implementation of this agreement.

Subject: Signing of Carrier Agreement between the Department of Posts (DOP) and Amazon.

Sir/Ma'am,

The undersigned is directed to inform that the DoP has signed a carrier agreement with Amazon to provide transportation and logistics services to Amazon sellers for cross-border shipping.

2.The main objective of this "Carrier Services Referral Agreement" between the DoP and Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd is to facilitate e-commerce exports by enabling Amazon sellers to avail DoP's international mail products for cross-border e-commerce shipments.

3. As per the agreement, sellers on Amazon may select India Post as their logistics partner for transportation services. Once the seller chooses India Post, the DNK portal will consume the required data from Amazon portal and generate labels for the seller on Amazon portal. The seller will paste this label on the shipment and present it to any Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra. The article shall be Inducted by the concerned DNK and the postage shall be realised in cash. The compliance of customs query has to be done by seller on the Amazon portal.

4. The provision for utilizing the contractual facility for DoP by Amazon sellers is under development by CEPT. Once the provision is enabled, the contractual facility shall also be utilized by Amazon sellers. This information shall be widely publicized by the Circles.
