When a government servant's increment date falls during a leave period, the benefit is typically paid only from the date they return to duty. However, if the government servant passes away while on leave, their family is entitled to receive the leave salary, including the increment benefit, from the actual date the increment was due.
This provision, as per the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) order, ensures that the families of government servants who die while on leave receive the full financial benefits they would have been entitled to, including the increment that would have been effective during their leave period.
