Composite Allowance to GDS BPMs in Department of Posts

The Department of Posts has outlined guidelines for the Composite Allowance payable to Branch Postmasters (BPMs) of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS).
To qualify for the allowance, BPMs must provide GDS Post Office accommodation that meets specific standards. These standards include:
  • Location: The post office should be situated in a building owned by the Gram Panchayat, state or central government, or the BPM's own house, or a building owned by NGOs.
  • Size and Accessibility: The post office should be located in the main busy part of the village, with a minimum size of 100 sq. feet, preferably in a 10' x 10' dimension, and have direct access from the village road.
  • Structure and Amenities: The building should be a brick mortar structure, with electrical power and a suitable place for installing solar panels.
  • Exclusive Use: The accommodation should be exclusively for post office use.
BPMs who meet these standards are eligible for a Composite Allowance of Rs. 500 per month. Those with non-standard or rent-free accommodations are eligible for Rs. 250 per month
