Clarification on the Implementation of the Post Office Act, 2023- Post Directorate has issued an Order vide F. No. 01-05/2024-PO dated 20th Jan 2025

• The Indian Department of Posts issued a clarification regarding the continued validity of existing postal manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs) following the implementation of the Post Office Act, 2023 and its subordinate legislation.
• This clarification addresses concerns about the continued applicability of pre-existing manuals and SOPs, stating that they remain in effect until new manuals are implemented under section 16(2) of the new Act.
• The Department of Posts requests that this information be disseminated to all relevant personnel under each jurisdiction's authority.

This is regarding issuance of clarification regarding continuance of postal manuals, standard operating procedures, other relevant orders issued prior to the implementation of the new Post Office Act, 2023 and its subordinate legislation

2.Telephonic references are being received regarding the sanctity of continuation of the validity of the various Post Office Manuals issued prior to the implementation of the new Post Office Act, 2023 and its subordinate legislation.

3. In this context, it is clarified that the existing Postal Manuals and SOPs, shall continue to be in effect until new set of Manuals, came into force, in accordance with the section 16(2) of the Post Office Act, 2023.

4.It is requested to kindly communicate the same to all, under your jurisdiction.

5. This issues with the approval of the competent authority.
