Action to be taken on anonymous / pseudonymous complaints

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has issued guidelines on handling anonymous and pseudonymous complaints. According to these guidelines, no action should be taken on anonymous complaints, and they should be filed without further consideration.

However, if a pseudonymous complaint is received, the department should attempt to verify the complainant's identity and the authenticity of the complaint. This involves sending a request to the complainant for confirmation. If no response is received within 15 days, a reminder should be sent. If there is still no response after an additional 15 days, the complaint can be considered pseudonymous and filed accordingly.

It's worth noting that the CVC takes non-compliance with these guidelines seriously, and departments and organizations are expected to adhere to them. The guidelines are based on circulars issued by the CVC and the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
