In a significant move, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the green light to establish the 8th Pay Commission. This commission will be responsible for revising the salaries of central government employees and allowances of pensioners.
According to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the 8th Pay Commission is expected to be formed by 2026, which coincides with the end of the 7th Pay Commission's term. Vaishnaw also confirmed that the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission have already been implemented. The chairman and two members of the new commission will be appointed soon.
