Subject: Provision for family pension for GDS under Service Discharge Benefits Scheme (SDBS) - reg.

Please refer to your letter No. GDS/CHQ/45/2/2024 dated 09.12.2024 on the above mentioned subject.

2. In this respect, attention is drawn towards Rule 6 of the Department of Posts, GDS (Conduct & Engagement) Rules, 2020, which provides that GDS shall not be entitled to any pension. Therefore, family pension to the family of the deceased GDS does not arise. It is also informed that the matter regarding grant of pension to GDS at par with regular employees is pending before the Hon'ble Delhi High Court in WP No. 832/2018 U.O.I Vs V.K. Saxena & Ors and other tagged matters.
