2. Split Duty Allowance
36. What are the conditions prescribed for grant of split duty Allowance?
(i) The break between two duties spells is not less than two hours.
(ii) The split duty allowance will be admissible only for the actual period for which the official is on split duty and if he is placed on a continuous duty, he will forfeit the right to draw the split duty allowance.
(iii) It will not be admissible during the period of leave and training.
(iv) The officials residing beyond 5 kms from his duty place are only eligible of this allowance.
37. Whether the split duty allowance can be drawn in addition to Transport allowance?
Yes. It is payable in addition to Transport allowance to Group ‘C’ & Group ‘D’ employees of the Department of Posts.

38. Whether split duty allowance is admissible during the leave period?
The split duty Allowance is not admissible, if an employee is not to attend duty for a full calendar month due to leave. It is similar to the conditions related to Transport Allowance

39. Whether the split duty allowance is admissible to LR staff?
Yes. It is admissible only to Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ employees including LR Staff of these categories. It is not admissible to EDAs and outsiders who work as substitutes in the leave vacancies of Postmen/Group ‘

40. Whether PRI (P)s are eligible for drawal of split duty allowance?
No. They are not to be paid the said allowance
