Subject:- Grant of GDS Gratuity/Severance amount to GDS who did not opt SDBS and appointed on Departmental posts - clarification.
Sir/Madam,
Please refer to your office DO letter No. APA/83-2/Rulings dlgs/2015-16 dated 18.10.2024.
2. The matter has been examined. In this regard it is informed that as per this office letter No. 17-31/2016-GDS dated 08.07.2021 a clarification was issued on the subject matter, wherein, it was inter-alia, mentioned that the GDS who did not opt for the SDBS and were absorbed against Departmental Posts are eligible for GDS Gratuity/Severance Amount on the date of their appointment to regular departmental posts, subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions.
3.With reference to GDS gratuity, the attention is drawn towards DG's Instructions No. 1 dated 16.01.1968 below Rule 6 of the Swamy's GDS (Conduct and Engagement) Rules, 2020, which, inter-alia, provides that the GDSS who are absorbed on a regular post in Department are not eligible for Gratuity. The Circle is, accordingly, requested to take action in accordance with the said instructions dated 16.01.1968 with regard to GDS Gratuity.
3. This may be brought in the notice of all concerned.
