Procedure for handling Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB) Claim cases in Post offices

To facilitate the successful processing of an SGB death claim, please submit the required documents to the Mumbai GPO either in person (hard copies) or via email at mgpo.sqb@gmail.com.



Use the email subject line: “SGB-DEATH-CLAIM_Investor-Name_Investor-id”.

  • Covering Letter/ Forwarding letter - Office Use
  • Request letter from the claimant
  • Copy of Sovereign Gold Bond
  • Death Certificate of deceased depositor
  • PAN/Aadhaar Card of the Deceased depositor
  • Original SGB Application form
  • Cancelled Cheque or 1st Page of Bank Passbook of the Claimant
  • SGB death claim proforma
  • Pan or Aadhaar Card of the claimant 
  • Legal heir certification (if Nomination is not available)
Collect all the aforementioned documents from the claimant and submit to the Mumbai GPO for further claiming. Meanwhile an email may be submitted to mgpo.sqb@gmail.com with the proper subject line format.
