Subject: Minimum specifications for the procurement of desktop/laptop/tablet by Ministries/Departments of the Government of India to ensure Cyber Security
This is in reference to Office Memorandum No.3(9)2024-E.II(A) dated 02.05.2024 issued by Department of Expenditure to all Ministries/Departments directing them to adhere to the minimum specifications prescribed by NIC/MeitY on the above mentioned subject.
2. National Informatics Centre (NIC) has been deploying centralized cybersecurity endpoint management tools in desktop/laptop/tablet across Ministries/Departments for enabling centralized command and control of cybersecurity measures. However, it has been observed that some of the desktops/laptops/tablets do not have the minimum specifications required to support such tools. There is need to ensure that only desktop/laptop/tablet that have the required minimum specifications are procured in Government.
3. In this regard, NIC has proposed the minimum specifications to be mandated for procurement of desktop/laptop/tablet in the Government of India and its Organizations and the same is attached with this Office Memorandum. It may be noted that computers conforming to these specifications are already available on GeM.
4. Accordingly, Ministries / Departments while procuring desktop/laptop/tablet are requested to ensure that the prescribed minimum specifications as attached with this Office Memorandum are adhered to.
This issues with the approval of Secretary, MeitY.
