CBI ARRESTS SR. POST MASTER AND PUBLIC RELATION INSPECTOR OF AGRA HEAD POST OFFICE WHILE ACCEPTING FIRST INSTALLMENT OF Rs 20,000 BRIBE OUT OF BRIBE DEMAND OF Rs 50000/-
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two accused including Sr. Post Master and Public Relation Inspector, Head Post Office, Agra while accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000/- from the complainant as first installment.
CBI registered a case on 21.06.2024 against two accused including Sr. Post Master and Public Relation Inspector, Head Post Office, Agra, on a complaint. It was alleged that complainant posted at Head Post Office, Agra, was recently transferred to Fort Head Office, Agra vide order dated 25.04.2024 of Sr. Supdt. Of Post Office, Agra Division, Agra. A departmental proceeding was also, allegedly, pending against complainant.
It was also alleged that accused Sr. Post Master demanded illegal gratification of Rs. 1,00,000/-, through accused, Public Relation Inspector, from the complainant for giving favorable report and decision in the departmental proceeding pending against the complainant and also for relieving him to join his new place of posting.
Subsequently, the accused persons reduced the demanded bribe amount to Rs.50,000/-.
CBI laid a trap and caught said accused while accepting bribe amount. During trap proceedings public servant Sr. Post Master directed the complainant to handover the bribe money of Rs.20,000/- (i.e. the 1st installment of the demanded bribe amount of Rs. 50,000/-), to Public Relation Inspector. As per instructions of accused the complainant handed over the bribe amount of Rs.20,000/- to said co-accused Public Relation Inspector. During further trap proceedings the said Public Relation Inspector handed over tainted bribe amount of Rs. 20,000/- to accused Sr. Post Master. Both the accused were arrested.
Searches were conducted by CBI at the residential premises of both accused at Agra and Mathura which led recovery of certain incriminating documents.
The arrested accused persons will be produced before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ghaziabad.
Investigation is continuing.
