Subject: Urgent Attention Required for Non-Grant of Ex-Gratia Gratuity to GDS Promoted After Long Service.

Respected Madam,
We urgently have to draw your immediate attention to a pressing issue faced by several Gramin Dak Sevaks who, after long and dedicated service spanning decades, have been promoted but are being unjustly denied their rightful ex-gratia gratuity. This issue has been brought to the fore repeatedly by our union, yet it remains unresolved.

According to the prevailing rules, GDS employees are eligible for gratuity after completing 10 years of service. However, there have been numerous cases where GDS employees, who have served for more than 20 to 30 years and have subsequently been promoted, are being denied their rightful ex-gratia gratuity. The department's response, stating that these employees are not eligible for gratuity, is contrary to the established rules and regulations. Previously, this union has raised this issue on multiple occasions, yet there has been no clarification or positive consideration from the department. This denial of ex-gratia gratuity to long-serving employees is unjust and has caused significant distress among the affected employees.

We request your urgent intervention to resolve this matter and ensure that the eligible employees receive their due ex-gratia gratuity.

Enclosed herewith is a letter from Shri Harendra Kumar Das, MTS, highlighting his situation and the grievances faced by many others in similar positions.

We trust that you will take immediate action to rectify this issue and provide the necessary relief to the affected employees.

With regards
Yours faithfully,

SS Mahadevaiah
General Secretary
