CGHS Benefits for Parents & Parents-in-Law | Option for Central Employees
Both male and female Central Government employees will have the choice to include either their parents or parents-in-law for the purpose of availing the benefits under CGHS
In order to access the benefits of CGHS for their parents or parents-in-law, Central Government employees now have the option. This decision has been made by the Competent Authority, as approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Previously, only female Central Government employees had the choice to include either their parents or parents-in-law for CGHS benefits, provided certain conditions were met. However, after a review, it has been decided that both male and female Central Government employees can now exercise this option, as long as the conditions of dependence and residence are fulfilled. This new provision will be added to the definition of ‘Family’ for CGHS benefits. It is important to note that this Office Memorandum supersedes all previous ones related to this matter.
