Subject: Sensitization about issues relating to dangerous goods, prohibited for transportation by air.
Instances of dangerous and prohibited items including Batteries, Copra(Coconut). Lighters & E-Cigarettes and compressed Gasses still being booked at Post office counters/ offices, have been brought to the notice of the Postal Directorate even after the issuance of instructions of even no. dated 02.05.2021 & 13.05.2021 (copy enclosed).
2.It is requested to ensure strict compliance of the guidelines issued vide aforesaid letters relating to dangerous goods prohibited for air transmission, at every booking counter/ office in the circle.
3.Since the issue concerns aviation security as well as of postal articles, Circles must immediately sensitize the field units to ensure that counter clerk as a matter of routine, inform the customers about prohibited and dangerous goods not be sent through Posts. List of prohibited items should be prominently displayed in Post Offices for general awareness (sample poster attached).
4. Circles are requested to submit an action taken report by 31.May 2023 on email ID- mailbusinessdte@gmail.com.
