Use of recyclable plastic seal for all mail bags

Request all circles to ensure availability of Self locking recyclable plastic seal(Pull tight) and use in all mail bags w.e.f. 01.01.2023.

Sub: Use of self-locking plastic seals (Pull Tight Seals) for closing of all type of mail bags- Reg.

This has reference to this office O.M no. dated 12.10.2022 followed by letter dated 14.11.2022, wherein it is mandated to use self- locking plastic seals for closing of all accountable and non-accountable mail bags by post offices / mail offices w.e.f 01.01.2023.

2. Replacing sealing wax with plastic seals, a green initiative of the department is a part of ongoing special campaign 2.0 under Swachhata Abhiyan and co-ordinated by Department of Administrative Reform and Public Grievances, Government of India.

3. Sufficient funds as per requirement submitted by Circles, have been allotted by Budget Branch, Postal Directorate vide letter no-22- 1/2022-23/BGT/Additional Alt/276 dated 11.10.2022, under head of account 3201.02.102.01.01.21- Supplies & Materials (Non-Scheme) for procurement of self-locking plastic seals for F.Y. 2022-23 (Q4) and circles have been informed about the allotment well-in-time to procure the recyclable self-locking plastic seal for remaining period of 2022-23.

4. Circles should, therefore, ensure availability of sufficient number of self-locking plastic seals well before 31.12.2022 and start using these plastic seals on all mail bags w.e.f. 01.01.2023.
