Subject: Clarification w.r.t. the sub categories listed under clause a,b,c & d for recruiting the post of Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant – Reference from Departments of Posts

The undersigned is directed to refer to Ministry of Communication’s ID note F. No, SC- 12/6/2022-SCT-DOP on the subject mentioned above and to Say that this Department on 4th January, 2021 notified the list post (Group A,B,C and D) identified suitable for Persons with benchmark disabilities covered under Section 34(1) of the RPwD Act, 2016. As per Note-6 of (the said notification, it has been made clear that the list will be the principal list in respect of the posts identified suitable for persons with benchmark disabilities. However, in case a list of post is separately identified by any Central Government establishment, the list having wider range of identified categories (i.e, having more sub-categories under each Category) would prevail. Department of Post has sought clarification of this Department to deal with cases where the list notified by individual Ministry or Department has wider range of disabilities in one Category and the list notified by this Department On 4.1.2021 has wider range under other Category.

2. The issue has been examined and it is clarified that in such a situation, the individual Ministry and Department may follow the combined list involving both DEPWD notification dated 4.1.2021 and list notified by them so as to cover al] Sub-categories of benchmark disabilities under Clauses (a,b,c,d) as notified in both the lists. For example:
