Subject: Booking of Fraudulent "On Indian Government Service" Letter through Post office Counter - reg.

An instance has come to light of the Postal Directorate wherein a fraudulent "On Indian Government Service" letter has been booked on the post office Counter Previously instances had also been noticed wherein fake letters (bearing names of different Ministries/State Government) have been posted on the post office counter.

2. Booking of fake letters on the Post Office counter by the anti-social elements not only dupe the innocent citizens of the country but also bring a bad name to the Department of Posts

3. in view of the above, it is requested that instructions may be issued to the officials working on the postal counters, to exercise due diligence while booking the postal articles under Speed Post or Registered Post service, tendered on behalf of Central Government/State Government Departments by the walk-in customers
