IMPACT AND RESOLUTION DOCUMENT – TO HANDLE ACCESSIBILITY OF APPLICATIONS POST DISCONTINUANCE OF SUPPORT TO INTERNET EXPLORER BY MICROSOFT (Ver 1.0)

Microsoft Corporation has stopped support to IE with effect from 15th June 2022, post that, CEPT has conducted testing on switching over to Microsoft Edge for accessing various applications which are currently running on IE.

  • There is no immediate implication on the applications which are operational due to the discontinuance of support of IE by Microsoft
  • Wherever automatic redirection from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge is reported the solution is provided below for follow up by field units.
  • As a policy, all the systems should be made Microsoft Edge compatible at the earliest without disabling the IE and any procurement of hardware should be with Windows 11 with Microsoft Edge.

  2. McCamish functionalities will work in Chrome and Mozilla using URLs in browsers. Since McCamish application is designed to login through POs (CSI), this functionality is not to be utilised.
  3. ESS of CSI will work in all browsers.
  4. IPPB Finacle functionalities will not work in any other browsers like Chrome and Mozilla.

Part-I – Solution:

  1. All operating systems in offices should be upgraded to Windows 10 or windows 11. This may require either moving of compatible systems from the available resources to the post offices / field units or upgrading the hardware may be a solution.
  2. By this way, making all offices and systems compatible to use Microsoft Edge ( IE Mode enabled) is an approach. This solution will be working up to 31st December 2022. Thereafter, switching over to Microsoft Edge will only be a permanent solution.
  3. Circles / Regions will have to be addressed to review the requirement of field units / post offices / RMS offices to adopt to the new requirement to make Microsoft Edge as the default browser.

Part-II – Solution:

  1. CBS / PLI:
  2. For those systems which are currently running on Windows 7 (with Service pack-1 installed) – Microsoft Edge IE mode should be enabled. (Pl see document attached as Annexure-I)
  3. For systems which are running on Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11, Microsoft Edge is available by default and IE mode should be enabled. FSI CBS (Finacle) access configuration changes to be done is attached as Annexure-I.
  • For systems which are running on Windows 7 (with SP1), Win 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 – McCamish is working. Reports Tab – Reports Type is not visible – FSI assured to provide solution at the application level by 16th June 2022.

CSI:

  1. For Operating systems Windows 7, 8, 8.1 – SAP Logon 770 could not be installed and hence solution is not supported – Field units should be instructed to follow the solution approach as given in Part-I.
  2. For Operating systems Windows 10 and above: SAP Logon 770, installation dump along with exe, instruction manual will be made available in SAP directory itself by EOD today and the folder details will be shared and published for field units to download and install. When once the installation is complete, SAP GUI based applications, (DPMS, IPVS, CRM, BI, F&A, HRMS, S&D) will be operational in Microsoft Edge.
  • For POs – requires customization at CSI end. The team assured to provide solution and make it available for UAT by 20th June 2022 positively. This solution is proposed to be shared with POs Version 4.7 and a schedule will be made available for Circles to make Microsoft Edge operational. This customized POs Ver 4.7 will cover default configurations of CBS, PLI, Mail Operations and IPPB, post login in to POs by the Users.
