Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers – CPI-IW published All India Consumer Price Index for April 2022 is expected to be released by 31.05.2022.

why goverment emplyees wait for AICPIN data?

AICPIN data is used to calculate Dearness allowance for Central Government Employees and IDA( Industrial Dearness allowance) for CPSU Employees. All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (BY 2016=100) for the month of March 2022 released by the Labour Bureau on 29.04.2022. The All-India CPI-IW for March, 2022 increased by 1 point and pegged at 126 (One hundred twenty-six). It is expected that AIPCIN for April 2022 is also expected to increase by 1-2 points. Based on AICPIN for March 2022 we can calculate estimated DA or IDA from July 2022 more accurately.

The AICPN numbers for April,May and June are yet to come. If this figure goes above 126 as expected, then the government can increase the DA by 4% bsed on the above calculation.This means the total DA could reach upo 38 percent. 

MarchAICPIN index figures, which is important in DA revision decision, have shown promise for a DA hike. The DA hike could come around 4 percent in July-August period, although the AICPIN figures of the coming three months i.e April, May, June is yet to be ascertained.
