Subject: Clarification on admissibility of benefit of age relaxation, available to Ex-Servicemen in Departmental Examination. 

Madam/Sir, 

References were received from various Circles seeking clarification on the issue of admissibility of benefit of age relaxation available to Ex-Servicemen, who had already availed this benefit at the time of appointment in Group-C posts. for appearing in Limited Departmental Competitive Examination in higher grade The matter has been examined in consultation with Department of Personnel & Training (DoP&T). 

2. DoP&T has clarified that age relaxation is admissible to Er-Serviceman at the time of appointment in the Central Government to Civil Posta/Services. However, alter appointment to such Civil Pasta/Services there is no provision for grant of further age relaxation to Es-Serviceman for promotion either through LDCE or in the normal Course. 

3. Accordingly, it is advised that the above clarification may be adhered to by all the Circles in letter and spirit.
