PLI / RPLI :: Settlement of PLI / RPLI claims with prescribed Citizens Charter's Norms

PLI Citizen's Charter is a commitment of the Department to PLI insurants in respect of Services being provided to them. It empowers the insurant to demand the committed standards of services. It allows the service seekers to avail the services of the government departments with minimum inconvenience and maximum speed. But in the past, the instance have come to notice that CPCs are not adhering to the time limits for settlement of death claims, maturity claims and other services requests as prescribed in Citizen Charter and thereby adversely impacting the PLI/RPLI business and consequently defeating the very purpose of formulation of Citizen Charter 

Thus, there is need to put a monitoring mechanism into force by circles, so that all Postal Life Insurance /Rural Postal Life Insurance claims are settled with Citizens Charter norms. It is therefore, requested to issue instructions to all CPCs / Post Offices to adhere to stipulated norms as regards to settlement of Postal Life Insurance / Rural Postal Life Insurance claims and device requests so that basic objective of Citizen's Charter is not defeated.
