GPF Balance Updation is prime responsibility of PAOs as per Rule 544 of FHB Vol-I and Rule 2 &39 of GPF Rules 1960 || Postal Accounts and Finance DO letter dated 08.04.2020

I draw your kind attention to this office letter no.12-6/2018/BPR/Part-I/3227 to 3375 dated 18.03.2020 and subsequent correspondence from DDF(B&A) with regard to GPF Balance updation by PAOs. It has been brought to the notice of the undersigned that various DDOs are updating the GPF balances of individual GPF Subscribers under some instructions from CEPT violating the basic provisions of Rule 544 of FHB Vol-I and Rule 2 & 39 of GPF Rules 1960. Updation of GPF balance is the prime responsibility of PAOs. Any wrong updation by any DDO in the CSI package without appropriate intimation to PAOs may lead to fraud. In order to avoid any complicacy, head of PAOs are hereby requested to submit the information as desired by DDG latest by 18.04.2020 in the specific format prescribed. Any difference in GPF balances by DDOs and the balance maintained in the Broad sheets in PAOs should immediately be brought to the notice of the undersigned alongwith all details of minus balance cases to streamline the process of maintenance of Public Accounts Fund(Liability) of Govt. of India.
