Secretary General, BPEF writes to the Hon'ble Minister of Communication & IT regarding Opening of all Post Offices

Subject :- In connection with the D.O letter dated 25/3/2020 from Hon'ble Secretary Post regarding opening of all Post Offices.

Respected Sir,

We all are aware that since few days, no convenience are plying on road due to lockdown for fight against Novel Corona epidemic. The Postal services are also running by those arrangements of Rail, Buses and Air services. The hon'ble Prime Minister yesterday requested to all for self quarantine and announced for total lockdown for 21 days since midnight of 24/3/2020. Most of the States are also strictly observing shutdown /Curfew. The buses /trains are not plying. In this situation when Postal services may not available, then there is no necessity to keep open of the Post Offices. But where the question of Banking services, Department should open office in skeleton structure. All employees are not needed to come office. Department may start a Toll free number for those customers who needs money and the employee will serve to their doorstep.

Respected Sir, today the employees of this Department are in a great hesitation that what to do, whether they may regard the order of the Secretary Post or observe the direction of Hon'ble Prime Minister. Welcomeing all the member of public to the Post Offices by this way is not correct. It is not meant that we are avoiding our responsibility. We the BMS are always telling that "Desh ke Hit me Karenge Kaam" but the situation today is different.

Hence it is kindly requested to direct the Postal Administration as per directions of Government for self quarantine.
