TRICHY: The postal department has invited students for a philately competition scheduled to be held on August 12, 2018. Students studying from class VI to IX and having good academic records and pursing philately as a hobby will be awarded an annual scholarship of Rs 6000 on the basis of philately quiz and project which will be conducted by Tamil Nadu postal circle, Office of the Chief Post Master General, Chennai.
Philately scholarship scheme ‘Deen Dyal’ SPARSH Yojna (scholarship for the promotion of aptitude and research and stamps as a hobby) was launched by the department of posts for generating interest in Philately among students, said in a statement from the senior superintendent of postal department in Trichy.
The selection process consists of two levels. In level 1, a regional level philately written quiz will be conducted on August 12, 2018. Those students who are selected will be sent to level two where they have to submit a philately project for annual selection in level 2.
Details of syllabus of a written quiz, a topic of the project and application form can be downloaded from the website www.tamilnadupost.nic.in. The application should be addressed to the Post Master General, Central Region, Trichy - 620001 with clear superscription as Deen Dayal SPARSH Yonja and should reach on or before July 30, 2018.
Students studying from class VI to IX with an academic record having scored at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade in the recent final examination (5 percent relaxation for SC, ST) are eligible for the scholarship. Students must be from a recognized school where philately club has been established and the student must be a member of the club. A student with his own Philately Deposit Account will also be considered for the scheme.
All the students are requested to avail the opportunity from the postal department to get the scholarship, the Senior Superintendent said in a release.
