Haryana to raise salaries and pensions as per recommendations of 7th Pay Commission

Haryana will hike the salaries and pensions of its employees as per the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission. If increased in toto, the increase in salaries and pensions will entail an extra annual burden of Rs 4,000 crore on the state exchequer.

The state has close to 2,80,000 employees and 1,80,000 pensioners. Haryana has estimated salary and pension bill at Rs 24,951 crore for 2016-17, as against Rs 20,693 crore (RE) for 2015-16. According to sources in Finance Department, the annual salary bill of the state is 19,340 crore and the estimated annual pension is 5,611 crore.

Finance Minister of Haryana told that the state government usually follows the recommendations of Pay Commission that are approved by Centre government and employees would be granted increase in pay and arrears accordingly. Captain Abhimanyu had informed during the post budget discussions in March this year that provisions have been made in the annual budget of the state for 2016-17 to enhance the salaries and pensions of government employees in line with the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations.
