Express Adda to host Ravi Shankar Prasad today - Speech About India Post

Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad will be the guest speaker at the Express Adda in Mumbai on Wednesday. In his second innings in an NDA government — he was a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government as well — the senior lawyer and BJP leader was first given charge of the Ministry of Law and Justice of India. As Law Minister, he successfully piloted the ambitious bill to replace the collegium system of appointments in higher judiciary.
Later, he was given charge of the portfolios of Telecommunications and Information Technology, both seen as key to India’s growth story. Under him, schemes such as Digital India got a fresh impetus, and there was a turnaround in the fortunes of ailing public sector undertakings such as BSNL, which became profitable for the first time in many years. India Post also started delivering more than just letters and parcels, having been recently granted approval to set up a payments bank by the Union cabinet.
At the Express Adda, Prasad will be in conversation with Vandita Mishra, National Opinion Editor, The Indian Express, and Maneesh Chhibber, National Bureau Chief, The Indian Express.
The Express Adda, which features people at the centre of change, is a series of interactions conducted by The Indian Express Group. In the past, it has hosted actor Shah Rukh Khan, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and, most recently, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari.
