Solution for Symantec Endpoint Protection installation error 

“A previous Norton product has been detected.Please first uninstall your legacy Norton product before attempting this install.”

I have tested the following and succeeded to install SEP on a Windows 7 system with SQL 2000 ,where AV/AD team ignored the system with remark as “OS problem” to install SEP as no details found in windows add/remove programs list as it was already uninstalled with normal windows uninstall utility and SEP setup automatically exit after some time without installation.

1. Installed Norton Antivirus 2011 with Antispyware ( It was previously installed on that system and uninstalled after expiry of subscription time.)

2.Disconnected sify network

3.Uninstalled it with IObit Uninstaller and deleted all registry keys related to Norton Antivirus 2011.

4.Also checked with uninstall option available in sep.msi

5. Installed SEP with sep.msi file from unzipped folder of Setup.exe downloaded .
