Subject: Regarding issues/problems highlighted by union after CSI pilot rollout in Mysore Division, Karnataka Circle.
Dear Sir,

Kindly refer to your letter dated 14,10.2015 addressed to Member (Technology) and letter dated 20.10.2015 addressed to Secretary Posts as well as Member (Technology) wherein certain issues/problems have been highlighted by union after CS1 pilot rollout in Mysore Division, Karnataka Circle.

The response to the issues/problems highlighted by union are enclosed as Annexure-I. As you may be aware, India Post IT Modernization Project is a Mission Mode Project (MMP) which intends to transform India Post to an IT enabled Department.

The Core System Integrator Project is of critical importance as other silos of India Post IT Modernization Project are dependent on CSI for this Mission Mode Project to move forward. The current roll out of CSI solution in Mysore division is a Pilot roll out. Intention of Pilot roll out is to evaluate the efficiency of the application and modify it for regular implementation.

As a follow up to the Pilot roll out, the Project Implementation Committee (CSI PIC) reviewed the implementation of CSI solution in its meeting dated 13.10.2015. During the review, DoP officials in Mysore Division and Karnataka Region along with various sub-committees have presented the issues from the roll out. Also, inputs from consultants have been taken on various issues and challenges faced during the roll out. The gaps identified during the pilot have been addressed to a large extent by making necessary changes to the applications.

CSI Vendor M/s TCS has presented their findings during the roll out and have also captured the learning from roll out at Mysore division. The CSI Vendor has also proposed remedial action in order to avoid these issues in future roil outs. Many of the issues discovered pos; the CSI roll out at Mysore division are linked with integration of CS1 application with legacy applications as well as FSI applications including CBS and PL1. In order to address the integration related issues, a high level Integration Committee has been formed.

The staff of Mysore division have been trained by the CSI vendor M/s TCS Regarding incapability of Postal staff to handle the situation, the department will further guide its staff to handle the critical situation.

Pilot roll out throws up issues which have a bearing on customers/Staff. These issues once resolved will add value and provide convenience to both customers and employees. Our attempt is in this direction and we seek your co-operation in taking the project forward in organizational interest.

Your concern is appreciated.

Regards,
DirecterfPMU)
